Six Things to Avoid the Week of Your Wedding

We’ve all heard the endless lists of things you supposedly must do the week of your wedding, but what about things you should avoid the week of your wedding? Let’s just say that some of these things involve trying something you’ve never tried before. Never a good idea when you need to be on your A-game for your big day!

We’ve put together a list of 6 things you should absolutely avoid the week of your wedding below:

New Workout Regimen

You’ve likely been working your booty off for the wedding for weeks or months now, and it’s just about game time! This is not the time to try some outlandish or risky workout that could potentially lead to an injury or sore muscles. The last thing you need this week is an injury to nurse and you most definitely do not want to end up in a cast before your wedding day. Not the best look.

Changing Up Your Hair Color

Getting your roots touched up the week of or a couple of weeks before your wedding is a good idea, but completely changing your hair color the week of your wedding is never a good idea because you don’t really know for sure how your new hair color will look with your skin tone, dress, in photos, etc. We recommend sticking to what you’re used to and trying any new colors/cuts months in advance so you have time to decide what you want for your big day. We also recommend only going to a hair stylist that you trust if you are going to get anything involving color/hair dye the weeks leading up to your big day. This is not the right time to try out a new stylist.

New Skincare Products

The week of your wedding is never EVER the time to try new skincare products that could potentially lead to breakouts, or even worse; an allergic reaction. Try new skincare products at least a month out to minimize the chance of a reaction leading up closer to your big day.

While we’re on this topic: sunless tanner should NEVER be experimented with the week of your wedding. Your wedding day should be about looking natural and beautiful - not fake and baked. However, if you are adamant about getting some sunless tan, we recommend trying out a spray tan with a professional about a month before your big day. We also recommend taking a few photos with your fake tan to make sure that’s the skin tone you are going for on one of the most important days of your life!

Indulging in a Large Consumption of Alcohol

A glass of wine here and there is one thing, but it’s best to avoid large consumption of alcohol the week of your wedding as alcohol can lead to bloating, flushed skin, and can cause your face to appear puffy in photos - which of course no one wants.

Juice Cleanses and Crazy Fad Diets

It can be tempting to try a new detox the week of your wedding, but this is definitely not the time to try something new and crazy. It’s important to make sure you are getting enough nutrients your body needs this week to help clear your head and make you feel good throughout the week.

Stressing About The Details

It’s go time girlfriend! This isn’t the time to overly stress about all the little details. Your wedding doesn’t have to look identical to your Pinterest board; now is the time to enjoy all the hard work you’ve put in behind the scenes these past couple months. Sit back and relax and let your wedding planner handle the stressful things for you!
